Fish Impingement & Macrofouling

Key staff within Precision Marine Survey have over 10 years experience of environmental monitoring at UK power stations and has included a range of studies to assess fish impingement from cooling water intakes and also macrofouling of intakes. PMSL can offer survey and modelling services to highlight potential issues and offer advice on appropriate mitigation measures.

PMSL staff have experience of carrying out a range of impingement & macrofouling studies for power stations:

Fish impingement and characterisation studies at power stations and water abstraction sites.

Provision of advice on measures to mitigate the environmental consequences of direct cooled power stations.

Evaluation and assessment of species of key conservation interest (lamprey spp., shad & salmonids).

Provision of advice on measures to mitigate the environmental consequences of biological macrofouling assessments at power stations.

Long term monitoring of biological fouling

Provision of advice on the optimal utilisation of antifouling measures whilst maintaining the environmental integrity of the plant.

Water quality monitoring of anti-fouling measures e.g. chlorination.
