Laboratory Analysis

PMSL can offer biological faunal analysis to species level (identification, enumeration and biomass). All work is carried out in-house in a newly constructed and equipped laboratory.

Staff have significant expertise of invertebrate fauna around the UK, including North Sea, English Channel, Scilly Isles, Celtic Sea, Wales, north eastern Ireland and Scotland. Other analyses have been carried out on fauna from the Dutch coast, Middle East and Indian Ocean.

Other faunal analyses routinely available include, size evaluation of marine polychaetes and bivalves, stomach analysis of fish species and evaluation of the gonad condition of fish species (maturation).

PMSL can also provide full statistical analysis of biological, sedimentary and physico-chemical data
